Senior Care Assistant recognised for outstanding care and kindness

On Friday 27th May 2016, Wyndthorpe Gardens Care Home in Doncaster recognised the first-rate level of care that Tom McGarry, a Senior Care Assistant within the home, brings to his role everyday by awarding him a Recognition of Care and Kindness (ROCK) Award.

Tom was nominated by a relative of a resident in the home, for his care kindness and always going that extra mile for the residents in his care.

Tom’s nomination read: “Tom is very caring, kind and respectful with my Mum. He has found a way to gain her trust and she allows him to do her hair etc… This means a great deal to us as a family because when we visit, she looks decent. Nothing is too much trouble for him. He finds time for the residents and their families - he even gives up break times to talk to us if we need him. He takes his job seriously, is tolerant, funny and generous. He really does go over and beyond the call of his duty.”

Claire Phelps, Home Manager, said: “I want to congratulate Tom on his well-deserved award. He’s a fantastic asset to have in the home, and the residents and the team here think very highly of him.”

A ROCK award is a nationwide honour that specifically highlights the impact a Four Season Health Care employee has made on the lives of people living in one of their care homes. An internal prize, staff are nominated for an award by either residents, their relatives or friends, who have witnessed or experienced staff members demonstrating excellent standards of care and kindness in their role.
