Peter Connell, a resident at South Park Care Home in York, has recently celebrated turning 90!
Joanne Fisher, Home Manager, said: “Everyone at South Park wishes Peter a very happy birthday. As it was Peter’s birthday, everyone at the home made sure his day panned out the way he wanted it to. This meant that Peter went out for lunch, indulging in a tuna jacket potato with a scone and clotted cream and jam for desert, before heading off to the pub for a pint and a whiskey. Once Peter returned home, everyone here sang happy birthday to him, and presented him with a beautiful birthday cake.”
The home hasn’t just been celebrating Peter’s birthday. It’s had a busy old time holding lots of different activities for the residents to get involved in.
Joanne Fisher, added: “The Personal Activity Leaders (PALs), are always on the go. They’ve held a number of activities which have included: armchair exercises such as volleyball and boxing, painting and baking. Another member of the team has taken the time to create an activities quilt for the residents that suffer with anxiety here in the home. We also have a local Vicar, Father Luke who regularly comes into the home and runs a service complete with prayers and hymns for the residents.”
