The home was alive, with the sound of music last week as Langley Park Care Home in Durham welcomed Harpist and Singer Margaret Knight.
Margaret Knight, from Music for Hospitals, spent over an hour entertaining residents with her musical abilities. After sharing her talent, she then offered the residents a chance to make music of their own, by playing Margaret’s small harp.
All of the residents relished this chance, and before she left Margaret asked if any of the residents if they’d like to try the larger harp. One resident, Mrs Edna Gill, jumped at the chance. Playing the large harp has always been something Mrs Gill has wanted to do, and the opportunity ‘made her day’.
Sharon Smith, Home Manager said: “It’s fantastic that we’ve been able to help Mrs Gill tick something else off her bucket list. Providing Specialist Resident Experiences like this one, help our residents make wonderful memories and create wonderful stories to share with their families.”
