To celebrate the late Robert Burns, Willow Lodge Care Home in Newcastle upon Tyne celebrated his life with readings of his famous poems and traditional Scottish music. The team invited families to join at the home with their loved ones for an evening of entertainment and hearty food.
The team thought it would be a wonderful idea to invite a local bagpipe player to come in and perform for the guests to get everyone in the Scottish spirit. The home was decorated with tartan and red to add to the theme. The catering team made some Scottish treats for everyone to try whilst Robert Burns’ poems were read.
Lindsay Johnson, Home Manager, told us “Willow Lodge had a wonderful evening for Burns Night. Everyone got into the spirit and really enjoyed our bagpipe performance. The Scottish theme got everyone talking and sharing past memories they had of various holidays and day trips they had there which was great to listen to”.
