Friday 17th June marked national Care Home Open Day. Sunbridge Care Home in Edmonton opened its doors to the local community and welcomed them in with open arms.
Deepak Luckhun, Home Manager, explained: “We had so many visitors to our Care Home Open Day event; it was really nice to see. They had the opportunity to have a look at the facilities we offer and chatted to residents and their families.
“There were a number of things happening at the home, so the visitors had a chance to sample what we do on a regular basis. We held a BBQ, karaoke competition and had a raffle. It’s a good job Simon Cowell wasn’t around, as I don’t think he’d be impressed with some renditions of some of the songs.
“I want to thank everyone who came to visit us at Sunbridge. I can’t wait for next years’ event.”
Care Home Open Day is a UK wide initiative inviting care homes to open their doors to their local communities. Events like the one at Sunbridge Care Home will help to create lasting links between the residents and their local community.
Care Home Open Day is all about showing people what care homes are really about and how they can be at the centre of the local community, developing relationships across the generations.
