As a way of celebrating the recent Dignity through Action Day (Feb 1st), Willow Lodge Care Home in Newcastle upon Tyne arranged a Digni-Tea afternoon to help reflect and appreciate the importance of dignity in care homes.
To mark the day, residents, families and the team all made white paper flowers for their very own Digni-Tree which they used to express thoughts of dignity on each flower. To add to the tree, they decided to add more coloured flowers each symbolising something different throughout the week. The team made flower cakes to compliment the different colours and meanings which everyone tucked into. To add to the treats, they also had a beautician at the home for those wanting to pamper themselves.
Lindsay Johnson, Home Manager, told us “We’ve had a great week celebrating Dignity through Action. Everyone really got involved and we’ve built a wonderful Digni-Tree which we will continue to display in the home to remind everyone of the importance of dignity in care”.
