Windsor House Care Home in Cannock took a step back in time, as the team and residents embraced a number of vintage days.
Over recent weeks, the team at the home have been running a number of activities helping the residents to reminisce about the golden years.
Jayne Wood, Home Manager, explains: “Providing activities and special experiences for our residents is at the heart of what we do here at Four Seasons. We like to give our residents something to look forward to and talk about in the weeks to come. The recent vintage activities we’ve had have certainly done this. The residents haven’t stopped talking about them, and are looking forward to what’s coming up next.
“One of the vintage days saw the gentleman at the home go on a ‘boys day out’ to the Museum of Cannock Chase. Once at the museum they looked at the vintage transport and how it has evolved over the years. Some of the gents even pointed out the cars that they first owned. They couldn’t have been more different to their modern counterparts.
“Whilst the gents were out looking at (not so fast) cars, the ladies were enjoying the peace and quiet and took part in a spot of baking. I’ve never seen 48 jam tarts disappear so quickly! They were delicious though.
Keeping with the vintage theme, the home recently held a 1940s day. The team at the home embraced the theme, with many dressing up in the style of clothing from the time. Everyone joined two local entertainers – Dan and Trish – singing along to some 1940s classics.
Jayne Wood added: “The residents had a fabulous time taking part in all of the different activities. Some of them even shared what they were up to in the 1940, which was great to hear.”
