Everyone loves having a special treat. What better excuse to have one than your birthday. That is one of the few days a year that you can make a wish come true.
That’s certainly what Tasha Corbett, Personal Activities Leader at Bracknell Care Home in Bracknell did for two ladies who celebrated their birthdays at the home.
First up was Renee, she was celebrating her 95th birthday. To mark this momentous occasion her family, and the team at the home wanted to do something extra special for her. So Tasha set to work.
Renee comes from a family of horse lovers. As well as being a keen rider, Renee used to help her son with regards to taking care of the horses. So Tasha arranged for a pony to visit the home which was a fantastic surprise for Renee.
Natsayi Dunira, Home Manger, said: “Renee didn’t not expect a surprise like this at all. She was so happy. Her family came and met the pony with her and she celebrated the rest of her day with them and her friends in the care home with a lovely slice of birthday cake. Before the pony left he went and visited the other residents so he could add a bit of cheer to their day which was also lovely to see.”
Meanwhile, when it came to Phyllis’ big day, she wanted to do something completely different. When asked what she’d like to do, Phyllis simply replied “I would really love to go to a dinner and music show.”
Her wish was Tasha’s command. She took Phyllis to the Sindlesham Mill in Reading, where singer Albie J – a regular performer at Bracknell – was performing big band/soul night. Phyllis also enjoyed a 3 course meal which she loved.
Tasha Corbett, said: “As the activity coordinator here at the home, I want to make as many dreams come true as I can. Providing these two ladies with special experiences and memories they can cherish forever. This is the ultimate job satisfaction for me and I’m so happy that I can make a difference to Renee and Phyllis’s lives.”
Everyone at Four Seasons Health Care is glad you both had magical days.
