Residents from Hallgarth Care Home in Durham celebrated Dame Vera Lynn aka ‘The Forces Sweetheart’ 100th birthday last week with a very fitting tribute.
Angela Muir, Home Manager, said: “Many of our residents aren’t far behind Dame Vera’s 100 year celebrations, and decided they wanted to mark the occasion with some movement and music therapy.
“Residents, relatives and friends were invited to join in the class. We had an afternoon full of feet tapping, hands clapping and pom-pom rustling as everyone sang and danced to the music. Towards the end of the session out came the Union Jack flags which were waved along to Dame Vera’s greatest hits including ‘Wish me Luck’, ‘We’ll Meet Again’ and ‘The White Cliffs of Dover’. Vera would have been very proud.
“Everyone at Hallgarth wished you a very happy birthday Vera.”
