January 31st was national ‘inspire your heart with art day’, and the art club at Hallgarth Care Home in Durham used this as theme for their latest project.
Residents painted numerous hearts in a variety of colours and with different patterns thanks to brushes and even their own fingers to create a collage of love decorations that were displayed around the home on Valentine’s Day.
“One of the residents saw an article in one of the newspapers regarding Banksy’s ‘Balloon Girl’ image. The residents had a debate about whether it was art of graffiti, but they also decided to use some of the hearts to create their very own Balloon Girl. This can be viewed in the home along with the other decorations. It goes to show that all you need is love.”
