Starry Starry Night is muse for resident’s crafts

Starry nights, northern lights and everything cosmic was the inspiration for the latest crafts activity at Hallgarth Care Home in Durham.

Shirley Mason, a resident at the home shared a magazine article on the northern lights and solar system. After discussions with her fellow residents it was decided that the theme for the 2017 Hallgarth calendar would be based on this phenomenon, reminding everyone of the amazing wondered of the world.

The gauntlet was thrown, and was quickly picked up by the Hallgarth art club who set to work designing the artwork for the calendar.

Angela Muir, Home Manager, said: “The art club completely ran with this project. Using every tool at their disposal they created some lovely pieces of art. Everyone’s piece was unique and had each resident’s flair and imagination. It was lovely seeing everyone getting involved in this activity. It was that popular that we ran it a couple of times, so everyone had their own piece of artwork.”
