Something very festive engulfed Howdon Care Centre in Wallsend over the Christmas period.
It all started on Friday 16th December, when everyone in the home embraced Christmas Jumper Day.
Ruth Todd, Home Manager, said: “It was lovely seeing all of the different festive themed jumpers that were worn throughout the home. We raised some money for the resident’s fund as each member of the team donated £1 for wearing their jumpers. The resident’s enjoyed sweet mince pies and a drop of sherry while watching Miracle on 34th Street. It was a lovely day to get people in the festive mood.”
The festivities didn’t stop there. On Monday 19th December 2016, the home held it’s Christmas Market, with a winter wonderland theme.
Ruth Todd, Home Manager, added, “A lot of festive characters came to our market, including the main man Father Christmas himself, Disney’s Frozen sisters Elsa and Anna, Frosty the Snowman, Pingu the Penguin and our very own elf on the shelf. We had a variety of stalls which enticed the local community through our doors. We served hot chocolate with marshmallows, a perfect winter warmer alongside our very own ‘Christmas in a bun’. We raised £490 for our residents’ fund which will help us to continue to provide special experiences for our residents.”
