Kingswood Lodge Care Home in Wotton-under-Edge had reason to celebrate last week, as two of its residents reached their diamond wedding anniversary.
Married couple Norman, 85, and Glenys Dursley, 80, live together in the home, and were thrown a party to celebrate reaching the 60-year marriage milestone with family and other residents, who dressed up smartly for the occasion.
Wearing homemade button holes and their best clothes, the couple tucked in to a chicken curry and assorted party food.
A specially designed cake, featuring a photo of the couple on their wedding day, was also shared out.
Suzanne Thomas, Personal Activities Leader, said: “It was a lovely day and all of the residents really enjoyed it – they were still talking about it the next day and saying how wonderful it was."
As with all 60-year diamond wedding anniversaries, the Queen wrote to the husband and wife to offer her congratulations. The card, written by her Majesty, said: “I am so pleased to know that you are celebrating your Diamond Wedding anniversary.
Everyone at Four Seasons wishes you a very Happy Anniversary Norman and Glenys.
