We’ll be launching the 2017 Four Seasons Care Awards later this year. For the final time this year we’d like to go back to the floor with another one of our winners
This week we’ll be focusing on Marlene Smith, Personal Activities Leader at Laurels Lodge Care Home in Woodside who won the Personal Activity Lead Champion accolade.
Marlene is a much loved member of the team at Laurels Lodge, and the relationship she’s built with the residents in her care is clear to see, as they all beam with huge smiles when they see her and she discusses their upcoming activity calendar with them.
Being crowned the Personal Activities Lead Champion of Four Seasons Health Care was a very humbling and proud moment for Marlene. She told us: “It felt really good. Literally everyone congratulated me on the achievement and it was a lovely feeling. Winning this award has motivated me to continue doing all I can to ensure that I and the rest of the team here at the home make a difference to our residents on a daily basis. After all life is for living and shouldn’t be boring.”
Marlene is a very special lady, and although she was singled out for the award, she told us that it’s the whole team at the home that helps to create these special experiences for the residents. She added: “I feel proud to be a part of a great team here at Laurels Lodge, we all take part, even Sheila the Home Manager in many activities. We all like a good party, and we definitely know how to throw them up here in Scotland!”
To find out what Marlene, the residents and rest of the team have been up to visit the Laurels Lodge web page for more information.
