Residents have been welcoming some very special guests into their home over the past couple of months.
Becket Hall Day Nursery, have been encouraging their children to interact with the older generation. They regularly visit the residents at Osborne Court Care Home in Bristol.
The residents and children get up to all sorts of activities including arts and crafts, baking, singing and dancing.
Chantelle Braford, Deputy Manager at Osborne Court, said: “People living in the home and the children really enjoy their time together. The residents are always pleased to see the children and talk about the visits for days afterwards. It is heart-warming to see how they interact so well together.
“Some of our residents are grandparents, but others have no family able to visit them so the children have a special place in their lives. The children bring them out of themselves and they become happier and more engaged. Similarly, not all the children who come here have grandparents of their own so the residents fill that gap in their lives.
“One little boy who has been coming here has become really fond of one resident, so much so that his parents have asked if he could still be brought to visit with (her/him?) when he moves up from the nursery group.”
The Nursery Manager, said: “The relationship between the two generations is lovely.”
One resident said: “They [the children] really make your day. They are lovely children.”
Some of the touching moments from a recent visit were captured by a video created by BBC Radio Bristol. This warmed the heart of the nation and has received over 5 million views on social media. This following encourages BBC's 'The One Show' to get in touch and ask to feature the interaction on their programme.
Tune into 'The One Show' Thursday 16th March 2017 at 7pm to see these heart warming moments for yourself.
