Living with a progressive disease such as Alzheimer’s, struggling to communicate how you feel can sometimes leave people feeling anxious, stressed or frustrated.
To try an alleviate some of this anxiety, Sew 4 Others, an organisation close to The Lodge Care Home in Killamarsh donated a number of shawls, twiddle lap blankets and twiddle mitts to the residents.
‘Twiddle mitts’ or ‘memory mitts’ as they’re often called are simply knitted cuffs, with a range of items, including ribbons, buttons or beads on, that the residents can twiddle to relive anxiety.
Janet McVeigh, Home Manger, said: “I want to thank Sew 4 Others for their kind donation. Our residents are really enjoying these and we can’t thank the group enough for their generosity.”
