Hallgarth Care Home in Durham held their annual Christmas Fayre complete with lots of home-made gifts and cards.

There was so much to do from games, to sampling some home-made bakes, guess the name of the dog to name a few. There was even a visit from Father Christmas himself.

Angela Muir, Home Manager, said: “Everyone had a fantastic day. It was great to see everyone from Hallgarth – residents, friends, families and the care team – coming together with the local community to raise money to provide special experiences for the residents at Hallgarth. Thanks to everyone’s kind generosity we managed to raise £715 for the residents fund. Merry Christmas everyone!”

Residents from Tudor Grange Care Home in Radcliffe-on-Trent enjoyed a Christmas sing along with the Radcliffe ladies.

Anita Wyke, Home Manager, said: “The ladies all dressed up and sang Christmas carols, which the residents enjoyed singing along to. We even had an early visit from Santa himself, who reminded everyone to be nice not naughty and left a few little gifts. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Tudor Grange.”

In Langley Park, residents at Langley Park Care Home have been creating extra special Christmas cards for their families.

Sharon Smith, Home Manager, explains: “Residents have been getting crafty and have created some very special and personalised Christmas Cards for their loved ones. It was lovely to see everyone in the home getting festive.”

April 2017 saw Four Seasons’ Health Care Grampian Region launch their VIP (Values In Practice) initiative which rewards people for living the Four Seasons values of being:

  • and Making a Difference

Arvin, Care Assistant at Bearehill Care Home in Brechin has been crowned VIP for the month of November after being nominated by colleagues, residents and relatives.

Joyce Chalmers, Home Manager, said: “Arvin does a fantastic job, and nothing is too much trouble for him. He always completes his job to a very high standard, putting the well-being of the residents first with a high standard of care. Well done Arvin.”

Sylvia Nicoll, Regional Manager for Grampian, said: “No matter how big or small the action or the gesture is, the VIP Awards are an opportunity to say thank you to people who go above and beyond the call of duty every day to make a difference to our residents’ lives.

“Congratulations Arvin, you should all be really proud of your success.”

Laurels-Lodge-Care-Home-Woodside-ROCK-Dec-2017

Congratulations go to the team at Laurels Lodge Care Home in Woodside, after being commended for their care and kindness.

Natalie and Dianne, relatives of the late Brian Walker who used to live at Laurels Lodge presented the team with their award after thanking them for everything they’ve done. They said: “Thank you very much for looking after (Pops) Brian. You deserve a gold medal, I know he is a huge loss to you all and the family. It’s a hard one for us too but if not for you all, you all are just worth money in gold. At least Pops had five happy years, he loved it.”

Sheila Gesma, Home Manager, said: “I am delighted and very proud for all the team of Laurels Lodge for having been awarded with the ROCK award. It is a testament to their hard work, commitment and dedication in providing very good care to our residents. Huge thank you to the family of Mr Brian Walker for the appreciation and for their inspiring words.”

After the presentation, everyone enjoyed themselves with a slice of cake.

A ROCK award is a nationwide honour that specifically highlights the impact a Four Season Health Care employee has made on the lives of people living in one of their care homes. An internal prize, staff are nominated for an award by either residents, their relatives or friends, who have witnessed or experienced staff members demonstrating excellent standards of care and kindness in their role.
