Northlea Court has achieved the silver award from Northumbria in Bloom 2010. Claire Metcalf and Sheila Rochester picked up the award at an award ceremony in Stockton-on-Tees; they also had their photo taken with Sir John Hall who presented the winners with their trophies. The Home took silver in the nursing care and retirement homes section of the competition. The Home Manager commented “We are very proud of our garden at Northlea Court, the residents and the staff have worked very hard and we are delighted to get a silver award in Northumbria in Bloom. The residents enjoy spending time in the garden and it makes it all worthwhile”.
The Berkshire Care Home has awarded two of their staff with long service awards. On the 6th September the home held an evening award giving, followed by a buffet. Celebrating long service at The Berkshire were Janice Kinghorn (RGN) and Jane Reynolds (SHCA) for 15 and 16 years of service respectively.
The World Alzheimer Report 2010 was released on the 21st September. The report commissioned by Alzheimer's Disease International (ADI) was written by academics at King’s College, London and the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm.
Kate Morgan and Sharron Reid from Annahilt Care Home in County Down have appeared in an article for the NISCC in Xcel Magazine about careers in social care. Kate and Sharron were interviewed about how they started their careers, their roles now and how they have got there and how they make a positive difference to people’s lives. The article is very inspiring and a credit to Kate and Sharron and Annahilt Care Home.
Four Seasons Health Care, the Wilmslow-based operator, has announced that a deal has eventually been agreed to extend its £790m whole life loan by two years to September 2012.
