Daryl Williams, from Ty Eiren Care Home, will not only be representing Four Seasons Health Care but the whole of Wales, when he takes on top cooks from the rest of the UK at the National Association of Care Catering (NACC) Care Cook of the Year final at Unilever Food Solution’s development kitchen in Leatherhead later this month. Daryl will be cooking Pork Terrine with Black Pudding and Crushed Potatoes, Warm Cabbage, Carrot and Apple Salad with Sage Cream followed up by Ginger Sponge with Spiced Custard and Poached Pear.
Ormesby Grange had pet therapy on a different scale recently with a visit from Molly the pony. Molly is very popular with residents and staff at the home and everyone really enjoyed having the unusual visitor. The residents benefit from pet therapy and it is an uplifting and fun activity for all.

Every week in Downpatrick a group of students from St Patrick’s Grammar School spend an hour with the residents of Lecale Lodge Care Home. The students who are members of the school’s St Vincent de Paul conference organise games and activities for the residents or simply spend their time chatting. It is an hour that is valued by the residents, the staff at Lecale Lodge and the students. Conor, a year 10 student values his contact with the elderly residents. “We take a lot from the people who make our community what it is, but I think it is also very important that we must give back”.
Rush Hall Care Home in Limavady, Northern Ireland had a Titanic get together to commemorate the sinking of the Titanic 100 years ago. Lisa Mc Arthur made a huge Titanic Cake and the residents and their families enjoyed a buffet and a dance to mark the anniversary. The Titanic was built in Belfast and had its trial runs in Belfast Lough and then along the northern shores of Northern Ireland.
