All staff at Warmley House were recently presented with the prestigious Four Seasons Health Care ROCK (Recognition Of Care and Kindness) Award for showing an exemplary standard of care towards residents. The Award is particularly deserved as winners are nominated by relatives and residents. This nomination was made by a relative who wanted to show her appreciation for their involvement in the care of her dad. Most of the nominated staff were present for the presentation of the award which was accepted by Clinical Lead Nurse Sue Fortune on behalf of the care team at Warmley House.

Royal College of Nursing (RCN) President Andrea Spyropoulos recently visited the home to surprise a resident who was previously a nurse, midwife and health visitor and marked her years in the profession by presenting her with flowers. During her visit, Andrea also met with residents and staff and visited the home’s new sensory dementia garden. She said: “This garden offers the perfect setting for those with dementia - it is a real pleasure to visit it.” Andrea was also impressed with the commitment shown by Marlborough Court in becoming the first home in the UK to obtain the Deaf Care Quality Mark. She said: “It is essential that care homes offer top quality services.” Also attending the visit was Pauline Lawrance, Managing Director at Four Seasons Health Care, who discussed all aspects of nursing management the RCN President.

Recently the UK's care homes took centre stage and united for the second year running to create lasting links between care home residents and their local communities. On National Care Home Open Day Sunbridge Care Home in Edmonton, London opened up their home and held activity packed event. Residents, families and the local community were invited to join Sunbridge for an afternoon of fun with a BBQ including a table top sale, cake sale, tombola, hand henna / face painting, a raffle draw and much more. Residents and visitors were able to enjoy a little music and dance in the garden courtesy of the DJ for the day who brought the house down with his traditional timely classics. All in all the day was a success and a great opportunity for the residents to enjoy the lovely weather in the garden.
