Four Seasons Health Care in Northern Ireland have been working in partnership with DEL (Department of Education and Learning) to provide work placements for young people in their Steps to Success programme. A ‘friendly’ football tournament was arranged by leading provider of people-centred services, Ingeus Ltd., with teams fielded from a number of employers including our own NI regional team.
Ingeus Ltd. work in partnership with DEL on many employability programmes, skills training and health-related support, which help people reach their full potential. Their aim is to engage with employers with a view to getting potential employees back on the course to work

Sadly Connor suffered an injury but despite this the team went onto win the tournament. Congratulations to our team of worthy winners and get well soon Connor!

Residents, staff and guests at Hesslewood House Care Home in Hessle have taken part in a fundraising event to raise awareness for Dementia UK.
The home organized a ‘Time for a Cuppa!’ day and held a cake sale serving many homemade treats including scones and cream, lemon cheesecake and flap jacks, to show support for Dementia UK and the Admiral Nurses who work closely with those experiencing dementia.
Hesslewood’s very own male peacock was also out for the occasion, showing off his new feathers for everyone who was sat watching him from the dining room.
Home Manager, Michelle Pepworth said: “This is a great event to be involved in and we were delighted to be part of it and help raise so much money for such a good cause. Many elderly people are living with dementia, including here at Hesslewood House, so to support such an important event has been great.”

Laurels Lodge Care Home in Aberdeen recently unveiled an old fashioned sweetie shop and a vintage cinema for residents living with dementia. Sweets, such as bonbons and sticks of rock, are now available for residents to enjoy. Adding to the nostalgia, all the treats are priced in shillings and pence.
Laurels Lodge already has an old fashioned pub and 1940s room within its premises, which have proved very popular.
Home Manager, Sheila Gesma said: “As many of our residents live with dementia, the areas are designed to spark their long-term memory and evoke a sense of wellbeing and comfort.”

Hesslewood House Care Home saw Chinese New Year as a perfect chance for residents and staff to do something different, and bring the popular celebrations going on around the country and local community into the home.
Staff and residents got dressed up, the home was decorated, and a delicious Chinese banquet was served which included duck spring rolls, breaded prawns, beef in black bean sauce, chicken and cashew nuts, rice prawn crackers, and for pudding, pineapple and banana fritters.
Care Home Home Manager Michelle Pepworth said of the event: “The day was a great success, and a lot of the residents loved the Chinese dishes, so we are going to add them permanently on to the menu.”
Hesslewood House regularly holds events and activities for its residents and people in the surrounding area, from celebration events like Chinese New Year to arts and crafts, baking, gardening and trips out and about.

Botham Hall Care Home in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire recently achieved a high silver award at the PEARL accreditation.
The pioneering PEARL (Positively Enhancing and Enriching Residents’ Lives) dementia care programme was developed by Four Seasons Health Care and has achieved dramatic reductions in the need for medications and a corresponding improvement in the wellbeing of people with dementia.
Botham Hall Home Manager, Christina Halonka said: “Everybody has worked very hard to achieve this and we are very proud to become a specialised dementia service.”
The Four Seasons Health Care PEARL team presented the plaque to Botham Hall Care Home at a celebration party that was attended by staff, residents, friends of the care home and other professionals.
