Chichester Court Care Home in South Shields recently participated in Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. The team arranged for residents, relatives and friends to join at the home for a coffee, a cake and a chat to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The coffee morning ran throughout the morning with an influx of visitors attending to enjoy themselves. The team decorated the home and all baked something to contribute to the day so there was no shortage of cakes on offer. In total, Chichester Court managed to raise just short of £100 on the day for Macmillan.

Dale Summersby, Home Manager, said “Our coffee morning was a great success – we had plenty of visitors who joined our residents for a cup of tea and a natter. The team did a perfect job with the organising and the cakes were fantastic. Everyone had a lovely morning and we can’t wait to do it again next year”.

Team members from Tudor House Care Home in Cannock recently took on a 10K Memory Walk for the Alzheimer’s Society. The walk was held in the local area so the team felt it would be a fantastic idea to take part and raise as much money as possible.

Donna Morris, Tess Foster and Sue Dale, team members at Tudor House, all dedicated their weekends to participate in the Memory Walk. In the run up to the event, they managed to raise £300 in sponsorship money which will be donated to Alzheimer’s Society.

Jayne Wood, Home Manager, told us "Both me, the team and the residents are very proud of Donna, Tess and Sue for taking part in the Memory Walk. It’s for such a worthy cause and something we’re all very close to here at Tudor House. The amount of money they raised was fantastic. Well done girls!”

Bamford Grange Care Home in Stockport has been praised for their hard work and kindness recently by one of the residents. A member of the team was presented with a ROCK Award by the resident who nominated her for this honour.

Justine Hadfield, Domestic Assistant at Bamford Grange, was awarded the Recognition of Care and Kindness Award after a resident put her forward for the award. Pat, who nominated Justine, told us “Justine is a perfect peach! She’s a very good friend to me and I miss her when she isn’t on duty. She’s extremely kind, generous and very understanding”.

The ROCK award is a nationwide internal honour that specifically highlights the impact a Four Season Health Care employee has made on the lives of people living in one of our care homes. Team members are nominated for an award by residents, their relatives or friends, who have witnessed or experienced staff members demonstrating excellent standards of care and kindness in their role.

Nicola Hughes, Senior Home Manager said “I’m really proud to have Justine on the team – she’s totally deserving of this award. We made her a cake as a thank you which she then generously gave out to all the residents. Both Pat and Justine got very emotional in the presentation. Well done Justine for all your hard work at Bamford Grange”.

Michael Jerwood regularly visits The Oaks Care Home in Blyth to see his wife Sheila. He is so impressed and appreciative of the care his wife receives; he has created a set of t-shirts that read “Only the best carers work at The Oaks”. He has designed the t-shirts himself and had them printed at a local shop.

Michael’s wife, Sheila, has been living at The Oaks for nearly 8 years so he sees first-hand the hard work and dedication of the team. He has become great friends with everyone and feels they are like an extended family which is why he had the t-shirts created. Michael now has a collection of t-shirts in various colours so he can wear a different one each time he visits Sheila. Another relative who visits the home often has chosen to get a t-shirt printed for herself – they both wear them in the local area to help promote The Oaks Care Home.

Louise Kerry, Home Manager, told us “It’s so lovely to see the positive impact our team have on both the residents and the relatives – so much so they show appreciation like this! It’s really heart-warming. Michael is a real friend of the home; he is forever praising the team via ROCK Award nominations, reviews of the home and recommending us to others. Thank you Michael!”
