Marlborough Court Care Home in Thamesmead has been rated as outstanding by the Care Quality Commission after a recent inspection. The CQC inspect over 30,000 care homes and Marlborough Court is one of only 19 homes to achieve the honour of receiving an outstanding report.

The CQC found them to be rated as ‘good’ in three categories; safe caring and responsive, and rated outstanding in two; effective and well-led. The report stated: “The ethos of the home was positive and staff members felt part of a team. The team members we spoke to reflected on the significant progress made by the service in the last three to four years. They are highly trained in caring for their residents with dementia. Residents said they were cared for by members of staff who knew them as individuals and understood their needs”.

Maggie Candy, Home Manager, told us “I’m so proud of the team and all we have achieved over the past few years. The home has gone from strength to strength, and it’s such an honour to be Home Manager here at Marlborough”.

Well done to all at Marlborough Court on your fantastic result from all at Four Seasons Health Care.

gowrie garden make over

2 Sep 2015

Residents, families and staff at Gowrie House Care Home came together earlier this year to transform some of the home’s garden into a wonderful space for everyone to enjoy.

Many staff volunteered to come in on their days off including Victor, Geoffrey and Jack to help with the project, and residents were involved in selecting the plants which included strawberries and herbs. Residents also helped decorate the trees with ribbons and ornaments to add a touch of fun and animation to the delightful space.

“The garden make over was a fantastic thing to do,” said Anjie Restar the Gowrie House Home Manager. “I particularly need to thank Betty Smith one of the residents that contributed greatly to the finishing touches, and Sally and Marjorie who along with their husbands helped with the landscaping and planting. It was quite a shrubby and dull space before and now its full of colour and is really accessible to all. We are one big family at Gowrie and this became really evident this summer. I couldn’t be more proud.”
