On Friday 17th June, Lydfords Care Home near Lewes recognised the first-rate level of care that Alison Palmer and Marie Carson, Care Assistants and Nurse Florin Mortoiu, brings to their role everyday by awarding then a Recognition of Care and Kindness (ROCK) Award.

All three team members were nominated by resident Margaret Bullock. With regards to her nominations, she wrote the following about the team:

“Alison is always ready to assist me, is always cheerful and smiling.”

“Florin makes me feel safe and happy at night. I like it when he’s on shift.”

“Marie always helps me. She smiles, opens my bed at night and never complains.”

Maria Stefea, Care Home Manager, said: “I want to congratulate Alison, Marie and Florin on their well-deserved awards. They’re a fantastic asset to have in the home, and the residents and the team here think very highly of them. It’s nice to read Margaret’s comments because it shows that sometimes the simple things are often those that have the most impact on our residents.”

A ROCK award is a nationwide honour that specifically highlights the impact a Four Season Health Care employee has made on the lives of people living in one of their care homes. An internal prize, staff are nominated for an award by either residents, their relatives or friends, who have witnessed or experienced staff members demonstrating excellent standards of care and kindness in their role.

The team at Benholm Care Home in Forfar came together to celebrate Care Assistant Regan Lawson’s success on achieving her Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ).

SVQs are based on national standards which are drawn up by people from industry, commerce and education. They are badges or benchmarks of competence, so they work as a guarantee that someone who holds an SVQ can do the job the qualification covers.

Regan was guided through the process by the Learning and Development Team.

Michael Doolin, Resident Experience Regional Manager for Scotland, said: “I want to congratulate Regan on all of her hard work. Employers are very aware of SVQs and appreciate their value. Here at Four Seasons we’d always encourage and our teams to do all they can to up skill themselves and we’d support them through the process.”

Marion Davies, Home Manager, said: “I’m very proud of Regan. She’s worked really hard and thoroughly deserves this recognition. The skills she’s learnt will further enhance the care she gives to the residents here at Benholm, which from what I can see is an added bonus, as the team here are already doing a fantastic job.”

Laughter is the best medicine, and at the end of July, we’ll post the best (and clean) side splitting jokes we’ve been sent.

So whether you’re a fan of a knock, knock joke…

Knock, knock
Who’s there?
A little old lady.
A little old lady who?
I didn’t know you could yodel.

Prefer to quote a comedy legend….

Tommy Cooper 'Two cannibals were eating a clown – one said to the other,
'Does he taste funny to you?'

Or just want to have a good old giggle….

How do you make a tissue dance?
You put a little boogie in it.

What do you call cheese that's not yours?
Nacho cheese!

We’ve got the jokes for you to cheer up your day.
