Residents at Triangle Care Home in Wheatley took part in some very special pet therapy, when they got to meet a Shetland pony and some birds of prey.

Pet therapy really appeals to residents as it helps them to relax.

Sue Davies, Home Manager, said: “We wanted to surprise our residents with a different type of pet therapy this week. They all loved meeting the Shetland pony, owls and a falcon, with some residents being brave enough to hold them.

“My thanks go out to the group who brought in the animals. You made our resident’s day, and gave them lots of stories to tell their families.”

Courtenay-House-Tomato-Week-1

Residents at Courtenay House Care Home in Kings Lynn put their best chef’s hat on last week to celebrate National Tomato Week.

John Watts, Home Manager, explains: “The residents decided they’d make pizzas. To tie in with the tomato theme they used tomato puree as the source. The residents could choose whatever toppings they wanted to put on top of the pizza, with some very interesting combinations being invented.

“One the residents were happy, the pizzas were cooked. They all went down a treat with everyone in Courtenay House. Only a few pizza crusts were left. I look forward to seeing what other culinary delights the residents can create.”

Marlborough-Court-gardening-1

Two residents at Marlborough Court Care Home in Thameside embraced nature as they helped the Activities Leader brighten up the garden.

Hayley Mercer, Personal Activities Lead, explained: “Gardening is a really good activity for our residents with dementia to do, as it can stimulate lots of the senses. Shirley and May both helped me to plant flowers in the hanging baskets and planters around the sensory garden. The garden now looks beautiful, and I want to thank Shirley and May for their help.”

Once to residents washed the dirt off their hands, Elvis entered the building to celebrate May’s 86th birthday. The residents, her family and the team all helped her to celebrate by singing and dancing to Elvis.

Heywood-Court-Ramsbottom-trip-4

Residents at Heywood Court Care Home in Lancashire went on an adventure to Ramsbottom in their latest excursion from the home.

Victor Phiri, Care Home Manager, said: “The residents had a fantastic time on the train. Many of the residents reminisced about trips they’d taken in their younger days.

“The residents are already planning their next trip out. So watch this space.”

The team at Regents View Care Home in Chester-le-Street celebrated over 200 years of experience at the home, as a recent awards ceremony.

Kim Richardson, Four Seasons Regional Manager attended the ceremony to present the Four Seasons elite with their awards.

Ian Hindhaugh, Home Manager, said: “Having continuity and routine in a care home is important for the residents. They get to know the team on a personal basis, and to some extent, see them as members of their family. I am very proud of the team here and congratulate those who have received awards.”
