NE-CHAPs-Grad-July-2017

Many people start their career path doing something they love, and they yearn to develop, grow and blossom in their profession.

Here at Four Seasons, Care Assistants can up-skill themselves on the organisations Care Home Assistant Practitioners (CHAPs) programme.

On Friday 21st July 2017, a graduation ceremony was held at Lingfield House in Darlington, celebrating the achievements of 9 newly qualified CHAPs.

Jacky Reed, Four Seasons North East Acting Managing Director said: “Everyone is really proud of every single CHAP and nurse who mentored them through the programme. We’re often really busy, and forget to recognise the hard work people put in, but this graduation ceremony is our way to reward and recognise you all. The journey is a long one; it takes a lot of dedication to complete. You can all wear your uniform with pride, and know that we’re all extremely proud of you. Well done everyone and congratulations once again.”

A total of 9 CHAPs graduated from the programme and will be working in 8 homes across the North East. The homes benefitting from the CHAPs skills are:

The newly qualified CHAPs are now able to provide some general nursing duties such as medication rounds. This benefit’s the home as it enables the nurse to deal with more complex issues.

Residents at Brandon Lodge Care Home in Brandon enjoyed a lovely afternoon treat of pizza, after receiving a free delivery from a local takeaway.

Jan Mallan, Home Manager, said: “We regularly have pizza delivered here as a treat for the residents. However, we were surprised this week when we received 10 free pizzas from the takeaway. I want to thank them for this lovely surprise.”

Lansdowne-Care-Home-Cricklewood-St-Swithins-Day-2017

Residents, relatives and the care team enjoyed some St Swithin’s Day celebrations at Lansdowne Care Home in Cricklewood.

Lillian Ofondu, Home Manager, said: “We held a little party and made the most of the sunshine. Although folk lore does say whatever the weather on St Swithin’s Day is the weather we’ll have leading up to September. Fingers crossed the sunshine remains.”

Are you free on the Saturday 26th August? Why not pop along to Howdon Care Centre in Wallsend’s Summer Fayre.

There’s fun for all of the family including lots of different stalls, face painting and a bouncy castle

Ruth Todd, Home Manager, said: “Everyone is welcome to come to the Summer Fayre. It’ll be a day of fun and excitement for all of the family. I look forward to seeing everyone there. The Fayre starts at 11am till 4pm.”

Residents at Layden Court Care Home in Maltby enjoyed their five a-day as the care team presented them with lots of different fruit as part of fruity Friday.

Jenny Hololob, Home Manager, explains: “We know how important it is to enjoy your 5 a day, and here at Layden Court we wanted to make fruit fun. The residents enjoyed tucking into all of the fruit, the ice cream and chocolate were nice treats too.”
