Tuesday 21st March marks World Poetry Day, and residents at Doulton Court Care Home in Sutton-on-Sea used the occasion to share their favourite poems with each other.

Joyce Turner, Home Manager, said: “The residents really enjoyed reading poetry to each other. The poems brought back happy memories for the residents and it was nice to hear their favourite poems.”

Residents, relatives and the care team at Lansdowne Care Home in Cricklewood held a huge St Patrick’s day inspired party to mark the occasion.

Lilian Ofondu, Home Manager, said: “Everyone enjoyed themselves. They sang and danced the afternoon away. As it was St Patrick’s Day we enjoyed everything Irish and turned the home a lovely shade of green. Everyone from Campsie View wishes you a Happy St Patrick’s Day.”

Residents, relatives and the care team at Morecambe Care Home in Morecambe have been busy as they celebrate St Patrick’s Day and National Pie Day.

Kelly O’Connor, Home Manager said: “The residents enjoyed National Pie Day, by creating their very own pies, which they enjoyed for their dinner. Not all of the pies were savoury, some sweet ones were enjoyed with custard for desert.

“The residents also enjoyed visits from some very naughty leprechauns on St Patrick’s Day who got everyone singing and doing a little Irish jig. A good day was had all around.”

May a resident at North Merchiston Care Home in Edinburgh as taken part in a film project alongside four other residents from the home.

Director Duncan Cowles, encouraged May to take control of her own filming day, creating a final film that she’d be proud of.

Mike Heard, Home Manager, said: “May and the other residents who took part in this project really enjoyed themselves. It was their chance to ‘get to grips’ with modern technology whilst sharing their stories to a wider audience. Duncan’s videos are an insight into some of the colourful characters we have here at North Merchiston. I hope you enjoy watching them as much as the residents enjoyed making them.”
