Residents, relatives and the care team at North Court Care Home in Bury St Edmunds have been busy raising both money and awareness for a variety of organisations.

On the 21st September, the home did something special to mark World Alzheimer’s Day. The residents enjoyed a morning of sports followed by a variety show in the afternoon. The team set up an information point in the reception where visitors to the home were encouraged to find out more about Alzheimer’s.

Ieleen Belen, Home Manager, said: “The Alzheimer’s Day was a great success. We had lots of positive feedback not only from residents and their families but also visitors to the home who wanted to understand a little bit more about Alzheimer’s. It was a good way for us to help raise awareness about Alzheimer’s and the help that is available out there.”

A week or so later, the home celebrated the Macmillan Coffee Morning event, which saw a variety of bakes being enjoyed by everyone. The day was a huge success with £200 being raised for this good cause.

Ieleen Belen, Home Manager, added: “'We are so fortunate for all the support we have had and it is so nice to see our tearoom so busy!”

Izzy the Pet Therapy dog has been keeping the residents at Bon Accord Care Home in Hove busy, as she continues to regularly pop in for a fuss and a play.

Barbara Evans, Home Manager, said: “Izzy is a firm favourite with the residents and the team here. She is a boxer cross who will do anything for a biscuit. She comes in every other week to visit, and is happy to be stroked. The residents especially like Izzy because her coat is so soft.
