Fish and Chip supper on the menu at Dounemount

Residents from Dounemount Care Home in Macduff enjoyed a fish and chip supper as part of National Fish and Chip Day.

Kay Robertson, Home Manager, said: “Coming from a fishing community we are big fish and chip fans. We bought fresh fish from the local fish shed just down the road. Our residents all enjoyed a lovely lunch in baskets and paper. It was a lovely lunch and a nice way to mark National Fish and Chip Day.”

Residents from Morecambe Bay Care Home in Broadway, Morecambe and students from a nearby school have been bridging the gap between the generations finding out how the golden days compare to the here and now.

The residents enjoyed spending time getting to know the students. To both generations surprise they had quite a bit in common. The music may have changed but some of the fashions have done a full 360 and are enjoyed by both young and old alike. They even created the Morecambe Bay Art Club which will produce artwork that can be showcased across the home.

Are you in Eglinton on Saturday 15th July? If the answer is yes, pop down to Longfield Care Home who is holding a family fun day complete with a child friendly farm and (fingers crossed for the weather) a BBQ.

Two team members from Campsie View Care Home in Glasgow went the whole hog as they took part in Tougher Mudder, with the aim of raising money for the residents’ fund.

Senior Nurse Care Assistant Kellie Meharry and Carer Debbie Harris pushed their bodies to the limit as they went up against various different obstacles.

Katy Jenks, Home Manager, said: “I’m really proud of Kellie and Debbie, they did a fantastic job, and were still smiling at the end of the course. Their hard work paid off and the pair managed to raise £250 which will go towards providing special experiences for the residents. Well done again ladies. You both deserve a nice hot soak in the bath.”

Howdon-Care-Centre-Wallsend-Queens-Birthday-2017

Howdon Care Centre in Wallsend came together for a joint celebration as they marked two very special people’s birthdays.

The first birthday was Her Majesty the Queen, although a more important one had to be care assistant Kate turning 21.

Ruth Todd, Home Manager, said: “We decorated the home and created a Royal Throne for Kate to sit on. We also surprised her by presenting her with a throne and cape so she could be Howdon’s very own Queen for the day. We all celebrated with a lovely royal themed cream tea.”
