Sandringham Care Home in Portadown has turned this simple pleasure into a regular club as they encourage residents and their loved ones to enjoy a special lunch on a regular basis.

Adrian Moriarty, Home Manager, said: “This is a very simple way we can make a difference to the residents’ lives. More and more people are coming in to book the tables which prove how worthwhile it is. Watch this space.”

Are you in Eglinton on Saturday 15th July? If the answer is yes, pop down to Longfield Care Home who is holding a family fun day complete with a child friendly farm and (fingers crossed for the weather) a BBQ.

Louise McClusky, Home Manager, said: “There will be lots of things for people to get involved in. Come on down and see for yourself. The fun starts at 2pm. I look forward to seeing you all there.”

Two team members from Campsie View Care Home in Glasgow went the whole hog as they took part in Tougher Mudder, with the aim of raising money for the residents’ fund.

Senior Nurse Care Assistant Kellie Meharry and Carer Debbie Harris pushed their bodies to the limit as they went up against various different obstacles.

Katy Jenks, Home Manager, said: “I’m really proud of Kellie and Debbie, they did a fantastic job, and were still smiling at the end of the course. Their hard work paid off and the pair managed to raise £250 which will go towards providing special experiences for the residents. Well done again ladies. You both deserve a nice hot soak in the bath.”

Howdon-Care-Centre-Wallsend-Queens-Birthday-2017

Howdon Care Centre in Wallsend came together for a joint celebration as they marked two very special people’s birthdays.

The first birthday was Her Majesty the Queen, although a more important one had to be care assistant Kate turning 21.

Ruth Todd, Home Manager, said: “We decorated the home and created a Royal Throne for Kate to sit on. We also surprised her by presenting her with a throne and cape so she could be Howdon’s very own Queen for the day. We all celebrated with a lovely royal themed cream tea.”

Residents, relatives and the care team at Bon Accord Care Home in Hove welcomed Poppy a Sheltie dog into the home.

Barbara Evans, Home Manager, said: “Animals have a calming effect on people. Whether you settle down and pet a cat or dog, cuddle a guinea pig or rabbit, your stresses just ebb away as you relax. Our residents certainly enjoyed spending time with Poppy who was very cute, and loving all of the attention. We look forward to welcoming her back in the future.”
