April, the Nurse at Gowrie House Care Home in Kirkcaldy has received an award after a resident’s family commended her for her care and compassion.
The nomination for April read: “Our Dad was admitted to Gowrie House last year and was very ill. April personally nursed him back to health. She is very caring to all the residents and goes above and beyond duty to make sure they are cared for (she personally fed our Dad when he couldn't do it himself and patiently makes sure he takes his medication). On admission to Gowrie House she made sure Dad's medication was reviewed which made a huge difference to his personal well-being. We are always happy when April is on duty as we know our Dad will be well looked after. My father is now settled and happy at Gowrie House which is all due to April and her dedication to the health of the residents.”
Anjie Restar, Home Manager said: “It always nice for me to hear praise like this from our residents’ families. I’m very proud of April, and she is an asset to the team here at Gowrie House. I would like to thank the family for making this nomination, it really means a lot to April and the rest of the team.”
