On Saturday 4th February 2017, residents, relatives and the care team from Howdon Care Centre in Wallsend, went to celebrate a number of achievements at the home at the Wallsend Labour Club.
The home was celebrating 256 years long service, 3 Recognition of Care and Kindness (ROCK) and holding a bit of a party, all with the aim of raising money for the residents’ fund.
Amanda Cunningham, Care Services Director at Four Seasons Health Care, joined Jacky Reed, Regional Manager for Newcastle and North Tyneside and Home Manager Ruth Todd to present the team with their awards.
Ruth Todd, said: “I’m extremely proud of the team here at Howdon. We presented 17 Long Service Awards which culminated in 256 years’ worth of experience. Having this much experience under one roof is a fantastic achievement, and a great thing for our residents and their families. The team view the residents as extended members of their family, and as they’ve been at the home for a vast amount of time, the rapport that has been built up is lovely to see.”
“Next 5 members of the team were presented with ROCK awards after being nominated by residents and their families, commending them for their care and dedication. Richard Kennedy, Care Home Assistant Practitioner, Louise Faircloth, Care Assistant, Jade Richardson, Dawn Parr and Janet Storey (Personal Activity Leaders) have all gone above and beyond the call of duty ensuring our residents have special experiences on a regular basis, which makes a real difference to their lives.
“Keep up the good work Team Howdon!”
Once the presentations were over, the party really got started. Everyone got involved playing games such as Stand Up Bingo and Play Your Cards right.
Ruth Todd added: “We raised a total of £424.40 for the fund, which will help us to provide the residents with future activities. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their on-going support and donations that they provide for our events on a regular basis. Your help and support is very much appreciated. We wouldn’t be able to make our events as much of a success without you.”
