Whitefield Lodge team commended for their care and kindness

Congratulations go to the team at Whitefield Lodge Care Home in Glasgow after being commended for their care and kindness by relatives of residents in their care.

Regional Manager Victor Dewson had the pleasure of presenting a number of Recognition of Care and Kindness (ROCK) awards to the team at Whitefield Lodge.

Head Chef Rosina Saunders and Gardener Karen Kennedy were nominated by a relative who stated: “Over the year since our Mother moved to the Lodge, we have been pleased by the overall quality of food prepared by Rosina and her staff, and delighted by her extra dedication and thoughtfulness in providing delicious home baking for the residents and for events held here.

“Our Mother has been here for just over a year and so has seen the Lodge’s garden and grounds through the ‘four seasons’. They are beautifully maintained by Karen and offer a very pleasant environment for residents. Karen well deserved her bronze award in the recent garden competition and we would be pleased to see her hard work, enthusiasm and helpfulness further recognised.”

The second award was presented to the whole team on the first floor unit, who were nominated by a resident’s daughter. Her nomination read: “My father is a residents at Whitefield Lodge Care home. I felt I had to let you know of the incredible caring, funny, sympathetic and kind staff in Whitefield Lodge. They have restored my faith in human nature. They are all caring and compassionate and always have time if we want to ask anything. The whole place is so happy you never see the staff in a bad mood or grumpy. You never know if they are having a bad day. My dad is upstairs in the home and all the staff have taken the time to read his profile as they have spoken to us and asked about his life. The male staff are exceptionally good with him especially with personal care. .Jackie who does the entertainments is fab, they go on great trips. The management team to the office lady are always smiling and have always time to say hello. I am writing to you to ask that you recognise the staff you have at Whitefield Lodge and the commitment they show to patients and family members. They are always there be it with just a wee reassuring cuddle or a tissue. So from my dad and my sisters and brother a big thank you to Whitefield lodge and please as such a big company let your workers know you appreciate the effort they put in in keeping your company's values and good name.”

Angela Martin said: “I’m very proud of the team here, they regularly go the extra mile to make a difference to the residents they care for. These awards show that every member of the team in the home cares for the residents that live here. Well done everyone! These awards are very well deserved.”

After the presentation, everyone enjoyed a good old party.

Victor Dewson, Regional Manager for Glasgow and Clyde, said: “The team were all nominated for these awards by residents of relatives in their care. I don’t think there is any higher commendation than that. It’s fantastic to see that the team here are making a difference not only to the residents’ lives but to their families as well. I want to echo Angela’s sentiments and congratulate you all once again.”

A ROCK award is a nationwide honour that specifically highlights the impact a Four Season Health Care employee has made on the lives of people living in one of their care homes. An internal prize, staff are nominated for an award by either residents, their relatives or friends, who have witnessed or experienced staff members demonstrating excellent standards of care and kindness in their role.
