Old Vicarage raise awareness of dementia services

Making the decision to move yourself or a loved one into a care home can be a difficult and confusing experience. Understanding not only their care needs but the next steps if your loved one has been diagnosed with dementia can often be a mine field in itself.

Getting advice from people is a great way to make an informed choice regarding the next steps to take.

That’s why Pauline Clews, Home Manager at Old Vicarage Care Home in Worksop and her team held a Dementia Coffee morning, to help raise awareness of the disease and offer advice to people weighing up their options.

Pauline Clews explains: “The dementia coffee morning gave people the opportunity to come into the home and get a feel of what life is life. I and the rest of the team were on hand to answer any questions which will hopefully helped when it came to deciding the next steps for people. The coffee morning was a great success and we managed to raise £168 for Dementia UK to help in the fight against this disease. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came to support us on the day and donated prizes for our raffle which helped us to fund raise the money for dementia UK. ”
