A brand new unit was officially unveiled on Thursday 7th July, supplying more care options to those in the local community.
The Forgan Unit at Craighead Care Home in Newport on Tay closed towards the end of 2015 to undergo some refurbishments.
“After numerous discussions and meetings with Fife Council, NHS Fife and local GP services, the unit was reopened this month as a ‘Dual Unit,’ explained Four Seasons Regional Manager Mike Shea. “The unit is now equipped to cope with the ever changing care demands of the local community, and can provide a number of options to people who require varying degrees of care.”
The Forgan Unit now has a dual purpose. Half of the beds are still used for residents who have long term care requirements at Craighead. However, the other half will act as a Short Term Assessment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS) enabling people to have their short term care needs met, before returning to their own homes.
Mike Shea added: “This unit is the first of its kind for Four Seasons in Fife. It has been widely welcomed by all the professionals we deal with, especially the council, NHS and Care Inspectorate as it’s been established that the area has been missing this type of service.”
