The doorbell didn't stop ringing all morning as a stream of cards, flowers and presents arrived for Langley Park resident Olive on the morning of her 100th birthday!
The Durham care home resident cried tears of joy as she received a birthday card via special delivery from HRH The Queen, and said her room felt like a florist's with beautiful bouquets of flowers on every surface.
This was only the start, as later in the day Olive received a surprise visit from the local Mayoress who helped cut the birthday cake her lovely son had made specially for her.
Birthday tea consisted of Olive's favourite traditional pasties and of course plenty of fizz for friends and family who visited during the day.
Langley Park team members commented that the best part of the day was listening to Olive reminisce about previous birthdays - including a number spent as a nurse in the war - and how times have changed over the century. It made everyone reflect on what an amazing life she has had, and stories of the people she helped nursed back to health bought a tear to all.
Happy Birthday Olive from everyone at Langley Park Care Home and Four Seasons Health Care!
