A group of residents, along with their carers, from Hallgarth Care Home in Durham recently went on a special outing.
After much deliberation, the group of residents decided they wanted to enjoy some proper fish and chips and ice cream by the sea. So the group spent the day at the Headland of Hartlepool, where they enjoyed their delicious feast and a stroll along the sea front.
After noticing a sign post, the residents decided to pay a visit to the ‘Andy Capp’ statue, an infamous character from a comic strip in the newspaper. After sharing many laughs over the comic, they snapped a quick photo with him to remember the day.
Theo, one of the residents on the outing shared his many, happy memories of going to Crimdon Caravan Park with his family, and visiting Tommy the soldier; an impressive war memorial in the area. So, on the way back to the home, they made a surprise detour, and paid a visit to the war memorial and caravan park. The group sat on the cliff tops to admire the view, which was a huge delight to Theo, who was incredibly happy to be back.
The final stop of the trip was the local sweet shop, where they picked up some sweet treats to gift to the other residents upon their return.
