Happiness comes in all shapes and sizes, it’s also fluffy! At The Cedars and Larches Care Home, we have introduced Pet Therapy to help the residents relax and bond with a furry companion.
We brought in a little black dog called Bane, who went around to all of our resident’s rooms, as soon as they saw him enter their eyes lit up with excitement and the residents instantly felt at ease with Bane around.
Each of the residents got a chance to feed him treats and pet him while he sat and played next to them. It was wonderful to see how having an animal around unlocked many memories of the resident’s own pets that they used to own.
It was a lovely day and Pet Therapy is something we will be doing more frequently in are home!
The Cedars and Larches Care Home is located in Ilkeston, Derbyshire and provides residential care, nursing care, respite care, palliative care, intermediate care, day care, and care to support learning disabilities.
