A very special day for the mother of the bride at Ashcroft

It was all systems go at Ashcroft Care Home this week to prepare a day to remember for our lovely resident Patricia on the occasion of her daughter’s wedding.

Sadly, due to health reasons, Patricia was unable to make the long journey to attend her daughter Sarah’s wedding in Kent but Magic Moments Co-ordinator Kelly was determined to ensure Patricia felt part of her daughter’s big day and make it as special as possible.

The morning started in our beauty salon where Patricia enjoyed a glass of fizz as Kelly, a former hairdresser, did her hair, make-up and nails. While our mother of the bride was being pampered, team members decorated the dining room to match the colour scheme of the wedding and Chef Mark got busy in the kitchen preparing a special wedding breakfast.

The biggest surprise was soon to follow as  Sarah had arranged for one of the ushers at the wedding to broadcast the ceremony live via video link so Patricia could see her daughter marry her new husband Jan. Patricia was thrilled, exclaiming: “Ooh how lovely, she looks beautiful, bless her.”

Then it was time to sit down and enjoy Chef Mark’s three-course celebratory meal of melon fan with raspberry coulis followed by chicken with crispy potatoes and pan fried veg, then a pud of chocolate fudge cake & toffee sauce.

Kelly said: “What a wonderful day. Huge thanks to everyone involved in making this such a magical occasion. Patricia enjoyed every moment and went to bed with the biggest grin!”

Ashcroft Care Home is located in Chesterfield, Derbyshire and provides dementia care, respite care, and palliative care.
