A wild Bibliotherapy session at Southfield Court

Southfield Court Care Home, Huddersfield invited local Librarian, Nicola Boundy to the home for an exciting new activity session.

Nicola leads Bibliotherapy sessions throughout the local community, where she brings books to life through singing, poetry and rummage boxes associated with a theme. These sessions allow residents to experience a calm, relaxing and social environment that can stimulate their minds and memories.

The theme for Southfield Court was tigers, so the residents enjoyed reading books about the animals, before looking at photographs and feeling textured, sensory items like faux fur tiger tails and ears.

The residents had a wonderful day, and loved the opportunity to share stories, memories and experience a new activity. A huge thank you to Nicola for visiting the home and brightening our residents’ day!
