We’ve been exploring Consett's past in our ‘Pop Up Local History’ event here at Abigail Lodge Care Home.
The Magic Moments team created a mini museum which provided great talking points for residents to share their memories of our local area. As well as books and photos showing local landmarks of note, we learnt more about the town’s famous steelworks which opened in 1840 making Consett one of the world's leading steel producing towns until its closure in 1980.
Home Manager, Claire, said: “What an enjoyable day, our team did a great job bringing our local history to life and it was wonderful to reminisce and share our stories.”
Abigail Lodge Care Home is located in Consett, County Durham and provides residential care, nursing care, dementia care, respite care, palliative care, intermediate care and support for mental health well-being.
