Residents at Langley Park Care Home in Durham had a most enjoyable morning baking homemade cakes, reminding them of the fresh smell of baking in the kitchen in their younger days.
These memories led on to chat about running in from climbing the trees, playing skimmers in the streams, coming in with grazed knees and getting in trouble for having mud splattered all over freshly washed clothes! Plus the happy recollection of the gorgeous smell of a Sunday roast with all the trimmings filling the house, and freshly baked cakes and treats.
Reminiscence is an important part of life at Langley Park, and it is wonderful when an activity sparks such happy and vivid memories.
