Bella celebrates turning 101 years young!

Bella, resident of Maple Lodge Care Home celebrated turning 101 years young!

Our lovely resident, Bella came to live at Maple Lodge in 2015, so has been with us for five years. During this time, we’ve heard all about Bella’s fascinating life. She was born in Monkwearmouth in Sunderland but moved to London in 1934 to find work. During her career, Bella worked as a nanny, in a camera shop and a delicatessen.

In 1940, Bella married her husband, Robert and ended up moving back to Sunderland to bring up her children, Jean, Robert and Hazel. They were married for 17 happy years until sadly Robert passed away. Bella found love again and got married in 1960 to Jimmy.

Jimmy also had three children, Jimmy, Henry and Heather. This meant all of a sudden Bella had one big happy family! Bella is now proud to have 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren! We think this is incredible!

Bella loves listening to music and looking smart in her lovely clothes. She also enjoys a good cup of tea with a biscuit.

We all had a lovely time celebrating Bella’s birthday with a delicious cake.
