We’ve been out and about here at Maple Lodge Care Home this week picking blackberries to turn into crumble.
Residents enjoyed the fresh air and loved having a chance to chat to members of the local community. Many recalled days in childhood spent blackberry picking, eating berries straight from the bushes or taking some home to be made into jam.
We managed to fill several tubs to bring back to Maple Lodge, and after washing them they were turned into a delicious crumble. It tasted even better after having put in all the hard work to make it!
Mary, aged 97, only had one question: “Is there any custard?”
