Last week, two of our Glasgow homes celebrated Book Week Scotland, in association with the Scottish Book Trust. This is an event that happens every year, with book events held all over Scotland to celebrate the art of reading, and inspire others to pick up a book. The residents at Whitefield Lodge and Stobhill Care Home celebrated this year, and participated in a joint activity led by Whitefield Lodge’s Home Manager, Angela Martin.
“The Scottish Book Trust issues free anthologies of stories and poems every year with a different theme and ask for distributors to hand these out to celebrate the love of books. This year’s theme is ‘Blether’, a Scottish word meaning to have a chat”.
“I myself am a huge book fan and this year I handed out copies to two other care homes and a local Advocacy service”.
“The photos are from Stobhill Care Home and ourselves, where we had a good old blether about books and stories. The ladies at Stobhill are now considering having a regular Book Club whilst at Whitefield Lodge; we enjoyed a great chat about Scottish words and sayings”.
