Christmas shopping trip for Sandringham

Sandringham Care Home Manager Tracey took Ronald, Nan and Eric, who are residents in the home’s dementia community, on a trip to Rushmere Shopping Centre in Craigavon, Northern Ireland.

The residents mentioned to their Personal Activities Leader that they wanted to buy Christmas presents for their loved ones so fancied a day of shopping.

During the trip they visited a Santa’s Grotto and joined in with the school choir singing Christmas carols. The gentlemen were keen to go to sport shops to look at the football and rugby shirts while the ladies browsed around the clothes shops and visited Debenhams to sample the perfumes. Afterwards they all had tea/ coffee and a big piece of cake after an enjoyable day.

Resident Ronald is local to the area and lots of people stopped to have a chat with him. Ronald said “I haven’t been to Rushmere shopping centre in years, it was a great day and I really enjoyed myself. I didn’t know I was that well known as everyone seemed to recognise me and stop to say hello!”
