Residents at Whitefield Lodge Care Home in Glasgow take part in a weekly cognitive stimulation group, designed to aid significant improvements in cognitive functioning and quality of life for residents living with dementia.
Research has identified improvements in language skills as result of cognitive stimulation activity, including naming, word-finding and comprehension. People with dementia, carers and staff describe involvement in such groups as a positive experience in a variety of ways.
At this week's Cognitive Stimulation Group residents planted hyacinth bulbs to display proudly in their rooms.
