The team at Abigail Lodge Care Home are delighted to have received another ‘Good’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following a recent inspection.
The home was praised for its person-centred care and rated ‘Good’ overall and in the key categories inspected; ‘Safe’ and ‘Well-led’.
Inspectors spoke with residents and family members to gain feedback which included appreciation for how the team at the home cares for and engages with residents; "The staff are kind and really look after me well." Relatives said they were kept informed of any changes to people's needs and found the staff were responsive, kind and kept their relatives safe.
The CQC reported that: “Interactions between people and the staff team were very positive and relatives also said they were made very welcome at the home. People were treated with kindness, dignity and respect.”
The inspection report also noted that there was a positive culture in the home with staff providing a happy yet calm atmosphere where people were empowered to participate in their care and make their own decisions. The home was also praised for its good links with the local community and working in partnership with other agencies to improve people's opportunities and wellbeing.
Home Manager, Claire Corfield, said: “We are extremely proud of this achievement which is testament to the entire team’s commitment and dedication. Providing extraordinary care is all about putting our residents’ health and happiness at the heart of everything we do.”
Abigail Lodge Care Home is located in Consett, County Durham and provides residential care, nursing care, dementia care, respite care, palliative care, intermediate care and support for mental health well-being.
