At North Court Care Home in Bury St Edmunds, Manager Sham Deonarine welcomed residents, family and friends to a fabulous vintage-themed party to celebrate their recent DCF accreditation success.
They were joined by Pearl Hope RERM and representatives from the local authority, as well as local MP for Bury St Edmunds, Jo Churchill.
Regional Manager Donna Geraghty presented certificates and pins to colleagues who had successfully completed the training.
Resident Gerard made a speech about his experiences at North Court, saying:
"I wanted to talk about my life at North Court and commend staff and the nurses for their hard work and dedication to us all. In my opinion North Court is the best Care home in the whole of the United Kingdom, Ireland and the British Isles and what is left of the old British empire.
"My own personal view on dementia is that it is something I know I have to live with but I know with the love and support of everyone at North Court I will be just fine!
"To conclude I would like to read this short quote: I believe that dementia takes personal memories, it can take our ability to communicate, perform daily tasks and sometimes our freedom of choice. But it cannot take our values, our inherent personality and the love that is inside us."
Gerard then sang Ave Maria.
Residents, relatives and colleagues then enjoyed a buffet tea and North Court cake which was made and decorated by Home Administrator Carol Gibbons, with entertainment provided by excellent local duo Vocally Vintage.
A wonderful afternoon - well done to everyone at North Court!
