Greerville Manor Poetry Club celebrates day of poems

Wednesday 21st March 2018 was World Poetry Day and the Poetry Club at Greerville Manor Care Home in Newtownbreda celebrated the day in the only way they know how, by penning their own poems.

Gabrielle McDonald, Home Manager, explained: “We discussed the theme of ‘change’ to inspire our poems. The residents poems were displayed on the notice board and the nursing team and fellow residents judged the poems anonymously to choose a winner.”

The winning poem was one entitled Nature and can be read below:

Nature

When night turns into day
The icy wind blows away
All rain and frost shall pass
Now shall grow, the beautiful grass

Trees grow long and tall
All for us and one for all
Night comes at long last
Now the owl shall fly and pass
