Joan, a resident from Hallgarth Care Home in Durham met her nemesis on a recent outing to Bobbie’s Garden Centre.
After looking around the Easter display, she spotted a hen, and told everyone the following story.
“When I was little, I went to my aunt’s house to show her the new Easter dress my mum had made me. I was so proud of it. My aunt gave me two fresh eggs to take home for tea, she had wrapped them in a cloth and I knew I had to be careful not to break them. However, on the way out of the gate, I was chased by the chickens, they must have wanted their eggs back, and I ran. I ended up tripping over and breaking the eggs, putting holes in the knees of my stockings and dirtying my new dress. From then on, I never trusted chickens.”
